Samsung Exynos 2200 with AMD GPU to be announced on January 11 Globally

Samsung has officially confirmed that it will announce its next flagship Exynos SoC with AMD GPU developed by custom AMD RDNA 2 architecture-based graphics on January 11th, 2022. This will increase the ray tracing and variable rate shading capabilities of their upcoming smartphones.

According to the earlier rumors, it uses Samsung’s 4nm LPE process tech that features 1 x 2.9GHz Cortex-X2 Prime Core, 3 x 2.8GHz Cortex-A710 CPU Performance, and 4 x 2.2GHz Cortex-A510 Power-efficient cores based on ARM v9 architecture and 1250MHz AMD GPU. This will compete with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoCs.

     

The 3DMark Wild Life GPU benchmark is also leaked, which shows the test device powered by the Exynos processor with AMD GPU scoring 8,134 points. The score is high than the iPhone 12 mini powered by A14 Bionic 5nm SoC scoring 7668 points.

According to recent leaks, the Exynos 2200 will offer only 5% CPU performance improvement, and 17% GPU performance improvement over the Exynos 2100. The Samsung Exynos 2200 processor will launch next month, which should be power the upcoming Galaxy S22 series smartphones in some markets when it launches in early February.

The company is also expected to announce a mid-range processor the Exynos 1200 SoC, which will be the successor of last year’s Exynos 1080 SoC, but there is no official detail about to be introduced alongside.
