Samsung announces Exynos 2100 SoC with Cortex-X1 CPU, Mali-G78 GPU and integrated 5G modem

Samsung has announced its latest flagship processor the Samsung Exynos 2100, which will power the Galaxy S21 series. President of System LSI Business the Inyup Kang at Samsung Electronics has confirmed at the end of the event that the company has been working with AMD and the next-generation mobile GPU from AMD, which will be used in the next flagship Exynos processor. This will be a change from the ARM Mali GPUs that the company has used for the past few years.

The processor comes with ARM’s new high-performance Cortex-X1 core and runs it at up to 2.9 GHz along with three 2.8GHz Cortex-A78 cores and four 2.2GHz power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores. Samsung also claims that this CPU is 30% faster in multi-core tasks compared to the previous Exynos 990. The company uses the new Mali-G78 design GPU with 14 cores and it claims a 40% performance boost. The tri-core NPU uses a new architecture and reaches 26 TOPS, while Qualcomm also claims 26 TOPS for its Snapdragon. The new design doubles the power efficiency compared to previous generations.

The Samsung Exynos 2100 has specifications that are higher or better than the Snapdragon 888, which will be its direct competitor. The ARM Mali-G78 MP14 GPU would be better than the Adreno 660 GPU. The AMD GPU Samsung should provide better performance. The Exynos 2100 SoC can offer up to 7.35 Gbps in mmWave and up to 5.1 Gbps in Sub-6 GHz.

As per the tipster, Ice Universe said that not have to wait for Samsung’s flagship processor with AMD GPU till next year, so these are expected to announced later this year. He also said that this upcoming processor may be powered in the Galaxy Z Fold3, which will be introduced later this year. As we know that the Samsung is already denied rumors about the discontinuation of the Galaxy Note series, which means there may be a chance in the Galaxy Note21 series as well.
