Moto G5 Plus Hands-on Images Leak with detailed Specs, Coming Soon

Last year, we saw several leaked images and even renders of what was being called the Moto X 2017, however, it now seems so be clear that the device in question was the Moto G5 Plus and now we have some hands-on images of the Moto G5 Plus along with detailed specifications.

A Romanian website is selling the Moto G5 Plus prototype for $388.35 and from the hands-on images you see below, it seems like a very early prototype with the Motorola batwing logo. Again, all specs of the device were also leaked with the images.

The Moto G5 Plus is said to come with the Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor with 4GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage which should be expandable. It has a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 pixels FHD display with 401 PPI pixel density, same as the last-gen Moto G4 Plus but now it has 2.5D curved glass on top. There's a 3080 mAh battery onboard as well which is non-removable. A major change in design with the Moto G5 is that the back cover is non-removable now and it comes with sort of a unibody construction which does resemble the Honor 5C from Huawei. The protruding camera on the back is similar to the current-gen Moto Z series smartphones though.

Talking about cameras, it has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies, which may seem like a downgrade from the 16/8 megapixel camera combo on the G4 Plus. Another point which may disappoint some is that the phone comes with a micro-USB port at the bottom while USB Type-C is becoming common on even budget phablets.

The Moto G5 Plus may use the front earpiece as the speaker as well since there is no loudspeaker at the bottom nor the back of the phone. The 3.5 headphone jack, though, has been retained and can be found alongside the main microphone at the bottom. Talking about changes, the fingerprint sensor is still on the front but it now takes on oval shape rather than the weird square we see on current Moto devices. Moreover, instead of protruding out, it sits a bit inside the front glass. Strangely the phone still has on-screen buttons, so the fingerprint sensor is just there for security it won't be a home button.

Looking around the device, you can see the volume rocker and power button on the right and the dual-SIM slots can be found at the top. The Moto G5 Plus has a slightly curved back and rounded corners to make it more pleasing to hold. Overall, with these specs it seems like a worthy upgrade to the Moto G4 Plus and we expect it to run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box when it launches after MWC 2017.
