Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114 Benchmarks

The Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114 is a surprise entrant in the mid-range segment featuring the new 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582M chipset with Mali 400MP2 GPU. Apart from that, the Canvas 2.2 A114 has a 5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) IPS display, 1GB RAM and 4GB ROM. The phone runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, which has been customized quite a bit. Let's see how the Canvas 2.2 A114 fares in our Benchmark review, alongwith comparison with Canvas 2 Plus, Canvas Magnus, Galaxy S Duos 2, Galaxy Grand Quattro and the Xperia M.

Quadrant

The Canvas 2.2 scored 5906 on Quadrant, which is the best score in the mid-range segment we have seen from all manufacturers. The Canvas 2 Plus A110Q scored 4059, while the Canvas Magnus scored 4832, which are truly no comparison to the Micromax Canvas 2.2 in its quadrant benchmark score.

AnTuTu 4

AnTuTu is an additive score which is a major difference from Quadrant which averages out scores.

The Canvas 2.2 A114 got a score of 17078, which is again higher than its counterparts available at similar or even higher price points which you can see below.

Nenamark 2

The Nenamark 2 score of 56.2 FPS is equally impressive and falls in line with the PowerVR GPU of the Canvas 2 Plus (54.8 FPS) and Canvas Magnus (51.4 FPS).

Vellamo

Vellamo is a consolidated score which also includes Sunspider and V8 benchmark suite. The Canvas 2.2 A114 scored 1997 on Vellamo HTML5 and 524 on Metal. Both scores are market leading, and prove that the MT6582M is quite a beast in performance.

Linpack

The Canvas 2.2 scored 86.5 on Linpack Single thread test and 196.8 on multi-thread test, although these are not Snapdragon good but are great if compared to previous-gen MediaTek chipsets.

Benchmark comparison of the Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114 with Canvas Magnus A117, Canvas 2 Plus A110Q, Sony Xperia M, Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro and Galaxy S Duos 2

Conclusion

The Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114 is a beast of a performer, atleast that's what we can gather from the benchmark scores. It got class-leading scores in all benchmark tests including great GOU scores on NenaMark 2 which means it can do quite a bit of gaming as well.

With such scores, it has clearly surpassed the likes of the Canvas Magnus A117, previous-gen Canvas 2 Plus A110Q and ranks quite high in overall performance over the similarly priced Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 and the costlier Galaxy Grand Quattro.
