Meizu Pro 5 announced with 5.7-inch 1080p display, 4GB RAM

Meizu Pro 5 just went official in an event in Beizing. It is powered by the octa-core Exynos 7420 processor (same as the Galaxy S6/Note 5) with Mali-T760 multi-core GPU. There are two options of storage, you can either get the Meizu Pro 5 with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage or with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Meizu has opted for the USB Type-C reversible port which supports quick charging.

The rear camera on the Meizu Pro 5 have received a major upgrade, you now have a 21 megapixel rear-camera here which uses Sony's IMX230 ExmorRS BSI Sensor with the ability to record 4K videos. You also have a wide-angle 5MP front-facing camera here.

Meizu decided to go with a 5.7-inch 1080p display on the Pro 5 given that it would drain less power and still would be plenty sharp. The display glass on the front-panel curves on the sides making the phone easier to hold and you still have all-metal build here which we saw on the MX5. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based FlyMe OS 5.

The capacitive touch/physical home button with an embedded fingerprint sensor makes a comeback here with better fingerprint recognition. You also have mCharge 2.0, the company's own fast charging technology available on the Pro 5 which charges the 3050 mAh battery to 65% in just 30 minutes. Meizu has also worked on delivering better audio quality with ES9018K2M Audio DAC along with TI OPA1612 amplifier for better sound output.

It is a dual-SIM smartphone with 4G LTE support, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. You can also use the 2nd hybrid nano SIM card slot to expand storage with a microSD card.

The Meizu Pro 5 is available fore pre-order in China starting today and will go on sale on October 12. The Pro 5 has been priced at 2799 Yuan (US$ 440 / Rs. 29,000) for the 3GB RAM / 32GB storage variant and 3099 Yuan (US$ 485 / Rs. 32,000) for the 4GB RAM / 64GB Storage variant.
