HUAWEI Pura X Max launched with 7.7-inch horizontally foldable inner and 5.4-inch outer 120Hz LTPO OLED screens, Kirin 9030 Pro SoC

HUAWEI has officially launched the industry’s first horizontally foldable smartphone in the Pura Series, the Huawei Pura X Max in China, as previously announced.

Display and Geometric Design -

The Huawei Pura X Max introduces a unique paper-like aspect ratio of around 2:1 on both the inner and outer displays, ensuring a seamless visual transition between screens.

• Outer Display - 5.4-inch panel with up to 3500 nits peak brightness (at 20% APL) and a 1–120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate.
• Inner Display - 7.7-inch panel with up to 3000 nits peak brightness (at 20% APL), also supporting a 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate.

From a design standpoint, the device embraces a geometric aesthetic for a modern look. The camera module is surrounded by a ceramic bezel that adds a luminous finish. It is available in Midnight Black, Zero White, Interstellar Blue, Olive Gold, and Vibrant Orange.

Performance and Durability -

The entire Pura X Max lineup is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, engineered to handle demanding tasks and advanced graphics with support for real-time ray tracing acceleration.

Huawei has also introduced several durability enhancements:

• Basalt Waterdrop Hinge - Expands usable screen area by 16% and improves drop resistance by 33%.
• Reinforced Inner Display - Built using a triple-layer composite structure, including Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), a carbon fiber support layer, and an ultra-high molecular weight buffer layer—boosting impact resistance by 50% and compression strength by 20%.

Camera System -

Positioned as a flagship foldable imaging system, the Pura X Max features a versatile multi-camera setup:

• 50MP ultra-zoom main camera
• 50MP periscope telephoto lens with large aperture
• 12.5MP ultra-wide-angle camera
• Second-generation multispectral red maple primary color camera

The system is enhanced by Huawei’s XMAGE imaging technology, along with portrait optimization and 3D dynamic photo capabilities.

Software, AI, and Ecosystem -

The Pura X Max operates on a new “Max” edition of HarmonyOS 6 along with HarmonyOS 6.1, introducing a range of new software and AI-driven features. It also becomes the first smartphone to debut Huawei’s in-house “Born to Draw” application.

AI Capabilities: The device is powered by the upgraded Xiaoyi Smart Brain, along with the industry’s first companion AI system, Xiaoyi Companion AI. HUAWEI has collaborated with several third-party platforms—including Amap, Zhihu, Didi Chuxing, Baidu Maps, DingTalk, Baidu, and Xuexitong—to integrate these AI capabilities more deeply into everyday use.

Within HarmonyOS 6.1, the enhanced smart assistant offers a broad set of productivity and organizational tools for improved efficiency.

M-Pen 3 Mini Stylus -

To complement its foldable display and creative tools, Huawei has introduced the M-Pen 3 Mini stylus.

• Built-in microphone for omnidirectional audio capture
• Smart button for quick access to the Xiaoyi AI assistant
