HTC's year gets worse, hit by injunction banning sales in Germany

Things haven't been looking good for HTC for some time and its about to get worse, a lot worse. The company has just lost a legal tussle with Acacia Research Group, which would prevent sales of all HTC smartphones through Deutsche Telecom.

HTC was sued over patent infringement in Germany by the Acacia research Group, a patent licensing company over use of voice coding technology. HTC lost the case and an injunction has been granted banning sales of all their smartphones in Germany.

The company is working on a solution since they have a month before the ban comes into effect. The once great smartphone manufacturer has been brought to its knees due to the stiff competition in the mobile space. HTC currently has less than 2% of the global smartphone market-share and with dwindling sales, we may see one more giant fall, soon.
