Huawei's new budget dual-camera smartphone has a full-screen display, is also water resistant
Huawei budget sub-brand has just launched a new smartphone, the Honor 7X. It is a significant upgrade over the Honor 6X in pretty much every department.
Honor 7X Detailed Hardware Specifications
The phone features a unibody metal design features a 5.93-inch full-screen edge-to-edge display with full HD+ resolution (2160x1080 pixels) and 18:9 aspect ratio. With Xiaomi planning to launch the Redmi Note 5 with a similar bezel-less display, the battleground in the lower mid-range is bound to heat-up.
The Honor 7X runs on Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor clocked at 2.36GHz with Mali-T830 GPU. There's 4GB RAM to help it along with a choice of storage options including 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. You can expand it up to 256 GB using a microSD card.
The dual SIM smartphone supports 4G VoLTE, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. Running on EMUI 5.1, based on Android Nougat, the phone also supports 3D surround sound. Another significant change with the Honor 7X is the IP67 splash resistant rating, which means that your phone will survive minor splashes easily. This is the same water-resistant rating as the iPhone 8.
On the optics front, Honor 7X gets a familiar dual camera setup with a 16 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP secondary sensor for the depth measurement. This allows you to get that awesome bokeh or portrait shot. Then there's the wide-angle 8MP front-camera for selfies.
With so much going on with the phone you need a solid battery to power it as well, and Honor has packed a decent size 3340 mAh battery which can quickly top-up with the company's own SuperCharge technology for fast charging.
The Honor 7X comes in Midnight Black, Platinum Gold, and Aurora Blue color options starting at CNY 1299 ($199 or Rs. 12900) for the 32GB storage option. You can also get the 64GB option for CNY 1699 ($259 or Rs. 16,900) and the 128GB storage variant at CNY 1999 ($305 or Rs. 19,900). It is available to order starting today in China and will be available from October 17th.
