Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge with Snapdragon 430 arriving January 6th
Samsung is all set to launch its new Galaxy J3 Emerge smartphone on Sprint and its partner carriers. The Galaxy J3 Emerge was earlier known as the Galaxy J3 (2017) but is being rebranded for the US carrier.
Specifications remain similar to the Galaxy J3 (2016) model including the 5-inch 720p display but now we are getting the Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor powering the innards. RAM has also been increased to 2GB with 16 GB internal storage which can be expanded with a microSD card slot. Check Out: Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) vs Galaxy J3 (2016): What's new?
Given the new launch, the J3 Emerge runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow but we did expect Samsung to start the year with Nougat. In terms of cameras, there's a 5MP camera on the back with autofocus capable of recording just 720p videos even though SD 430 supports 1080p video capture. Then there's a 2 MP front facing camera here as well.
The build of the device remains plastic, but there's a 2.5D curved glass layer on top of the screen. The back cover and 2600 mAh battery are still removable here. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. There's no fingerprint sensor or gyroscope on the J3 Emerge.
The Galaxy J3 Emerge will be available starting January 6th in the US, but there's no word on pricing yet.
