Blackberry pauses global rollout of BBM for both Android and iPhone
Blackberry just can't get out of the rut, the company set the dates for the official release of BBM on Android as September 21st and for the iPhone on September 22nd. The dates came and went, and the promise of a unified BBM experience failed. Blackberry is not just having a bad day they are making it worse, on a global scale.
On 21st September everyone waited with baited breath for the release of BBM for Android, but it wasn't to be but thankfully Blackberry stood by its word and released the app for iPhone on September 22nd, only to be pulled from the App Store that very day with no sign of the Android app.
The official version of the story goes like this, BBM app for Android leaked ahead of announcement and saw over 1.1 million users in the first 8 hours of its availability. The version had some issues which Blackberry probably had not anticipated, therefore they halted the release of the official app, but the iPhone app was still launched. It seems this app faced a similar issue or Blackberry's servers weren't able to scale up to the requirements, whatever be the reason, at present both apps have been taken down. This time around though Blackberry has not given any date as to when the apps which be launched in their respective app stores. Until then just remember that there is no official BBM app for Android, and do try to stay away from the fakes.
