XOLO Q2500 is one of the latest entrants intro the phablet race with a 6-inch display, quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM. But that's not all, the 6-inch display has a resolution of 720x1280 pixels and is actually an IPS panel, plus its powered by the 1.3 GHz MT6582 processor which has proven its worth in real-world performance. If you are looking for a tablet with phone features and want it to be almost pocketable the Q2500 should definitely be under consideration. Let's have a look at it in our unboxing of the XOLO Q2500.
XOLO has packed quite a lot of free stuff with the Q2500. You get an additional Screenguard apart from the one that's already on the display, a leather Flip-cover which can be used as a stand as well alongwith a USB OTG cable. Apart from that you have the usual accessories in the Box.
Here's a look at all the contents of the XOLO Q2500 box:
The accessories are good in quality.
The XOLO Q2500 comes with a 6-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor with 1 GB RAM running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with a promised Android 4.4 KitKat update. The new MediaTek chipset comes with the dual-core Mali 400 MP2 GPU which is clocked at 500 MHz possibly giving it a slight edge in the gaming department. The Q2500 uses on-screen buttons and you have a round notification LED just below the display.
There's a 8-megapixel camera at the back with Dual-LED flash alongwith a 2-megapixel front facing camera. The XOLO Q2500 is a dual-SIM device and uses two full-size SIM card slots. There's a 3000 mAh non-removable battery tucked behind the backcover as well. There's 0.98 GB of internal storage alongwith 1.75 GB of phone storage that's available out of the 4 GB ROM.
You have the usual Accelerometer, Proximity and Light Sensors. In terms of connectivity you get 3G with global roaming, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and FM Radio.
You just can't miss the 6-inch display in the front which sort-of blends into the front glass and looks quite elegant. You also have the earpiece up top with the XOLO logo just below it and the proximity, light sensors on its right. You also have the 2-megapixel front facing camera next to the sensors.
There's a round notification LED just below the display and the buttons are on-screen. On the left however, you have the volume rocker which I would have liked on the right side on such a large phone. The power button is rightly placed on the right side.
There's a bit of design flair added with the silver trim which runs around the device. On the sides, the backcover cuts in a bit giving it an angular design which is much appreciated. It makes the phone look even thinner.
The Q2500 is 8.5 mm thick with the sides tapering in a bit. The back has a matte finish which gives the device more elegance and a very premium look. Moving to the back you have the 8 MP camera at the top, the dual-LED flash just below it. Another XOLO logo finds its way below the flash and then there's the speakerphone at the bottom.
The Speakerphone is a bit flush with the backcover, so sound will definitely be muffled when the phone is put on its back. The camera hump is considerably less when compared to other phones in the segment. The back is fairly flat giving a very streamlined look to the phone.
The XOLO Q2500 is a large phone and quite comfortably lands in the phablet category. If you are in the market for a 6-inch device or even a 7-inch tablet the XOLO Q2500 seems like the way to go. Its definitely a niche product. The display on it actually quite good, the color reproduction and viewing angles excellent. The performance at first look is also superb. Its not just specs, but the build and design make us feel as if the XOLO Q2500 is a really premium product, quite not what you would think considering its price of about Rs. 13,500.
With an almost stock Android experience and promise of KitKat update this might be worth consideration. We will be back with benchmarks, gaming and then the full review of the XOLO Q2500, till then of you have any question just hit us in the comments section.
