Nokia Asha 502 Dual SIM Unboxing

    Unboxing

Nokia's Asha 502 is a new entrant in the popular Asha series of phones from the company. The new Asha Software platform supports WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Line among several other social networking platforms. Although, Android smartphones in the same price range have better specifications and app-ecosystem, the Nokia Asha 502 is a beginners phone with great battery life. Here's our unboxing of the Nokia Asha 502.

    In the Box

You will find all the expected accessories within the box. So you get:

    • Wired Wall Charger
    • Bright Red Colored Headset
    • User Manual and also a
    • 4GB microSD card

    Accessories

You'll find the card in the micro SD card slot in the phone. You also get the 1010 mAH battery inside the box. But we expected a micro USB data-cable to be included within the package as the phone supports external storage.

    Hardware Overview

    The Asha 502 features a 3-inch QVGA display (320 x 240 pixels), there's a 5-megapixels primary camera at the back with a LED flash.

    Display

There's a back button just below the display and the UI mostly consists of swipes and gestures. There's 64MB RAM on the phone but that's not what matters here. The Asha 502 has a 1010 mAh battery which is slated to last 13 hours on a single charge with 24 days stand-by time.

    Backcover Open

Its a dual-SIM device and uses micro SIM cards. The first micro SIM card is just above the battery while the second one is on the right.

    Build

The backcover and sides are covered in a transparent shell which gives a 3D look to the backcover and makes the color look vibrant. The front is encased in a plastic shell as well and you find just one "Back" capacitive button just below the display. The earpiece and Nokia branding are above the display.

    Left Side

The left side of the phone is clean, there's nothing there, while you will find the volume rocker and the power button on the right. At the bottom of the device you have the microphone pin-hole, at the top you have the micro USB data-syncing/charging port alongwith the 3.5mm audio-port.

    Backcover

At the back you will find the 5-megapixels camera as well as the bright LED flash. The loudspeaker finds a place at the bottom of the device. The only part on the back not covered in the transparent plastic shell is the Nokia branding which encases the camera, that's used to push the backcover open.

    First Impressions

If there's something Nokia excels in, its molding plastic into beautiful phones. The Nokia Asha 502 is the prime example of just that, its a beautiful phone to look at and to hold. Although the backcover is glossy, attracts fingerprints but its not slimy and doesn't feel cheap. In-fact everything apart from the display of the Asha 502 seems premium.

The display is decidedly pixelated. The camera here is a 5-megapixels unit and we really hope that it will be a good one. Performance was good, nothing extraordinary but the touch response of the display is excellent and the animations are fluid. But there's a lot to be looked at and tested on the Asha 502, till then have a look at the unboxing and hands-on images. We'll be back with a detailed review, if you have any questions just ask them in the comments section over here, YouTube or through our new Email feature you see in the right corner.
