Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 gets Marshmallow update with MIUI 8 Global Beta 6.9.9 Update
Xiaomi has started rolling out Android Marshmallow based MIUI 8 GLobal beta update for the Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon variant in India. The new update carries version number 6.9.9 and brings with it the much wanted Android 6.0 goodness.
The OTA update weighs in at 1.3GB and should be downloaded over WiFi. Apart from Marshmallow there are some other improvements as well as optimizations.

Now you don't have to pinch zoom on the homescreens to bring up the editing mode to change wallpapers, add widgets, instead you can just long tap on any empty space. You can also hide QuickBall by just swiping to the edge of the screen. Some users had issues with Volume level notification when using second space with earphones, that has also been fixed.
Moreover, you can now record music in stereo quality instead of mono. So, great all around improvements and this too comes with the general assortment of bug fixes and optimizations.
Xiaomi has already rolled out Android 5.1 based stable MIUI 8 update for the Redmi Note 3, and the new MIUI 8 Global Beta Marshmallow build just goes to show that the stable version is going to get updated very soon. If you are already on the beta ROM, the update should be available in a couple of days.
