Xiaomi Redmi 3s goes official with Snapdragon 430, Fingerprint Sensor starting at $106
After weeks of speculation, the Xiaomi Redmi 3s is now official in China. It packs a 5-inch HD IPS display and runs on the octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC with Adreno 505 GPU.
There are two variants to choose from, one with 2GB RAM/16GB storage priced at CNY 699 (about $106 or Rs. 7100) or the 3GB RAM / 32GB storage option for CNY 899 ($136 or Rs. 9200 approximately.)
The Xiaomi Redmi 3s comes with a similar design as the Redmi Note 3 with a metal unibody construction which means that the back-cover and the 4100 mAh battery are non-removable. You also have a fingerprint sensor at the back. The cameras have been upgraded here as well, you now have a 13MP rear camera with PDAF which can lock focus in just 0.1 seconds accompanied by a 5MP front-facing camera with beauty mode.
Redmi 3s is just 8.5mm thick and even with that massive battery it weighs in at a comfortable 144 grams. But you have a hybrid SIM slot arrangement here, meaning you can either use two SIM cards or one SIM card with a microSD card, shouldn't be much of a bother for the 32GB storage variant.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and micro-USB port for data-syncing/charging.
The Redmi 3s from Xiaomi comes in grey, silver and gold colors. It will be available starting June 16th from mi.com in China, at present there is no word on a global rollout.
