Xiaomi MIX Flip launched with 6.86/4-inch 1.5K 120Hz LTPO/AMOLED foldable displays, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC

Xiaomi also launched its first flip smartphone, the Xiaomi MIX Flip at the event in China along with the MIX Fold 4, as promised. It features a large 6.86-inch TCL C8+ 1.5K 1-120Hz AMOLED screen with 3000 nits of peak brightness. The outer screen is a 4-inch 1.5K TCL C8+ 120Hz AMOLED panel, also boasting 3000 nits of peak brightness and a quad-curved design.

The company has re-engineered the interaction with the outer display, enabling it to function effectively as a “compact phone” without needing to open the device. This screen supports comprehensive display gestures, notification and control centre swipe-down actions, auto-rotation for both left and right-handed use, and includes a full-display keyboard.

Over 200 popular apps run smoothly on the equivalent 3.5″, 16:9 main application area. Thanks to the flexible Xiaomi HyperOS framework, apps display without obstructions or cropping, ensuring a seamless experience. Daily use includes widgets for time, weather, step count, music control, and recently used apps. In specific scenarios such as booking taxis, ordering food, or checking flights and trains, widgets automatically switch to focus notifications, updating status information in real-time.

The MIX Flip is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform and features a redesigned 3D cooling system with a 3500mm² VC area and a unique “staircase” design that efficiently dissipates heat from the SoC. Xiaomi’s SU7 “aerogel” thermal insulation material is used near the inner display to block heat transfer, enhancing the user experience when touching the display.

The phone's middle frame is constructed from the same 6M42 aluminum alloy used in the MIX Fold 4, while both the outer and inner displays are protected by Xiaomi Shield Glass and UTG ultra-thin flexible glass. The compact dual-link hinge incorporates high-strength, wear-resistant materials similar to the MIX Fold 4, and has a folding/unfolding lifespan of 500,000 cycles, certified by SGS. There is also a special edition with Xiaomi Nylon Fiber, known for its excellent abrasion and stain resistance.

For photography, the MIX Flip features Leica Summilux lenses with a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main sensor and a 50MP 47mm 3x Leica floating telephoto lens with a minimum focusing distance of 9cm. It also incorporates the Xiaomi AISP computational photography platform, supporting advanced imaging scenarios with up to 60 TOPS of processing power. The cameras are usable with the outer screen and include a makeup mirror mode.

The MIX Flip’s 4780mAh battery, which surpasses that of the flagship Xiaomi 14, utilizes Xiaomi’s Surge battery technology with 6% silicon content in the negative electrode. It maintains at least 80% capacity after 1600 charge cycles, according to the company.

The Xiaomi MIX Flip is available in White, Black, Purple, and a special Xiaomi Nylon Fiber edition, which features meticulously woven nylon fibre for enhanced abrasion and stain resistance. It can now be ordered and will be officially available for purchase starting July 23rd.
