Xiaomi Mi 5s launched with Snapdragon 821, Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor
Xiaomi has just unveiled its hotly anticipated Mi 5s smartphone in China. The new upgrade to the Mi 5 comes with a 5.15-inch 1080p display which has a 16 LED backlight to push the brightness up to 600 nits.
The Xiaomi Mi 5s runs on the Snapdragon 821 quad-core SoC with 3GB/4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB of onboard storage. It is a dual-SIM 4G LTE capable device with support for 4G+ speeds with Carrier aggregation. Then you also have NFC onboard which coupled with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor make it compatible with Xiaomi Pay.
But that's not the only thing the Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is good at. Given that it just doesn't rely on capacitive touch and is placed under glass, you will be able to use it even with wet fingers. The fingerprint sensor is flanked by two dots for back and multitasking, which can be configured.
Instead of a glass build, this time around Xiaomi has gone with a metal build which curves on the back and the buttons are placed on the curve for easier access similar to the previous-gen Mi 5. Moreover, the display too is covered in 2.5D curved glass which just merges into the metal frame of the device.
Coming to cameras you have a 12MP rear camera which uses Sony IMX378 sensor and is capable of recording 4K videos. It also has optical image stabilization.
