Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 arrives with Intel Atom SoC, metal body, 8-inch display
Its been quite some time since we saw a new tablet from Xiaomi, but today the new Mi Pad 2 broke cover in a sleek aluminium frame measuring in at just 6.95mm with a 7.9-inch (1536x2048 pixels) display running on an Intel Atom SoC, a first for Xiaomi.
Coming to the nitty-gritty, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 runs on the Intel Atom X5-Z8500 quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz built on a 14nm processor. It has 2GB LPDDR3 RAM and you get a choice of either 16 or 64 GB storage. Now even in that thin 6.95mm thin shell Xiaomi was able to pack a massive 6010 mAh battery and a USB Type-C port but there's no word on fast charging.
But that's not all, you can get the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 running Android Lollipop or running Windows 10 as well (only 64GB model.)
There are two color options available as well, Dark Grey and Champagne Gold. Here is the pricing of all the variants:
- Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 16GB price: CNY 999 ($156 or Rs. 10,300)
- Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 64GB price: CNY 1,299 ($203 or Rs. 13,500)
- Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 64GB running on Windows price : CNY 1,299 ($203 or Rs. 13,500)
The Android version will go on sale starting November 24th, while the 64GB Windows 10 variant will go on sale late December.
