Xiaomi Mi Drone with 4K video recording launched
Xiaomi today unveiled its first drone, the Mi Drone which is capable of recording 4K videos and comes with three-axis stabilization.
The drone is being built by a Mi Ecosystem company, FlyMi. The Mi Drone comes in two variants, one that can record in 1080p priced at RMB 2499 and the 4K recording variant at RMB 2999. The 1080p variant gets a 16MP Sony BSI camera with 104-degree wide-angle lens while the 4K variant makes use of a newer 12MP camera which can record stills in RAW format.
Both variants have a carbon fiber body to keep the curb weight less and pack a 5100 mAh battery which gives it a flight time of about 27 minutes. It comes with a controller, using which you can take charge of the flight path, initiate recording, take images. There are built-in functions to take off, hover, return to original location and auto land built-in as well, all of which can be initiated with the controller.
The Mi Drone has GPS built-in and it can be traced using that, once out of range of the controller (about 3KMs) it automatically flies back to the original position from where it took off.
Xiaomi is crowdfunding the Mi Drone starting May 26th for the 1080p model which is priced at RMB 2499 (about Rs. 25000 or $380) while the 4K variant will go for crowdfunding later in July for RMB 2999 (about Rs. 31000 or $450).
