Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2 launched in India priced at Rs. 9999
Xiaomi is now expanding its product portfolio in India. Apart from just selling smartphones and mobile accessories, the company is looking towards India as a country where they see potential for smart appliances and other devices.
The first product from Xiaomi's Mi Ecosystem stable in India is the Mi Air Purifier 2 which was launched in China earlier. With the rising pollution in various metropolitan cities in the country especially Delhi which was declared as one of the most polluted cities in the world, a product like this makes sense. You can't do anything about air outside your home, but people inside do deserve to breathe clean air.
Coming back to the Mi Air Purifier 2, it's quite a small device measuring in at 520mm in height and 240mm in width meaning it can inconspicuously fit in at part of your house without being noticed. However, due to the design of the Air Purifier you would want it to be seen in your house. Even when its not working it looks like an appliance built for the living room.
It can pump out 10,000 litres of clean air at 338 m3/h in active mode which does become a bit noisy but you can always scale it down to a desired level using it'a Android app. The app also gives you information on particulate density in your household/office. The Mi Air Purifier has a WiFi module built-in which can connect to your office or home WiFi and receive remote commands to be powered on before you arrive.
There is a 3 layer filter here which can remove upto 99.99% of the harmful PM2.5 particles which can enter your lungs. It runs on axial fans which create an internal pressurization chamber for faster performance. It uses brushless motors for quieter performance. The company says, the new Mi Air Purifier 2 is 58% more power efficient and makes 11% less noise than the previous-gen air purifier and all this in a smaller package.
