Xiaomi has sold over 1.75 million units of Redmi Note 3 in India
While the company hasn't been able to keep its growth consistent in China, Xiaomi is doing a great job in India. They have just announced that in just 5 months 1.75 million units of the budget phablet have been sold and that too just through online sales.
The global smartphone market is cooling down, but not India where we are still expected to see double digit growth next year. Now, just to bring the sales numbers into perspective, during the second quarter (Q2) 2016 one in every nine smartphones sold in India was a Redmi Note 3. That's quite an achievement.
This also made the RN3, the highest shipped smartphone in any quarter in the online market. This would give them a huge boost in confidence especially with the company planning to make inroads in Europe and the US. The only major issue Xiaomi has ever faced in India has been meeting demand, the Redmi Note 3 was out of stock for the majority of first 2 months of its launch.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Review
The Redmi 3S is another smartphone which can do the same for Xiaomi, it has excellent build quality and is great value for money. Launching it at two different price points was a genius move. But at present we are seeing the same story repeat, there's just not enough stock for both the devices. The company needs to ramp-up its manufacturing capabilities as it has already created demand for its products. This virtual stock shortage would just other players creep in and take a share of the cake.
