Windows Phone 8.1 to require faster microSD card if you want to move apps

    SD Card WP8

Microsoft is all set to launch Windows Phone 8.1 at its Build conference in a few days. One of the most sought after feature is the ability to install apps to the SD card which will allow for a lot of leg-room on the device especially entry-level ones. But now we have news that Microsoft has made a stringent policy on which microSD cards will be supported so as to not hamper app performance. Therefore, if developers allow their apps to be moved to the SD card on Windows Phone 8.1, you would require to have at least a Class 6 SDHC card with a Class 10 card recommended, Class 4 and anything below it will not be supported.

Windows Phone 8.1 will be able to detect and check if your card will work, once it has made sure than your microSD card is compatible you will be shown the option. This is a welcome change as users on Android often complain of jittery performance in apps when moved to the SD card. A faster card will definitely help, especially in games.

Then there's the 3-column tile support as well, which will be coming to devices with displays sized 4.5-inch and above only. Therefore, your Lumia 520, Lumia 525 among several others will not be making the cut.
