Report: Twitter will now allow to use full 140 characters without counting links, images
Twitter will now allow you to use all 140 characters for your tweet without counting links and photos.
According to Bloomberg, Twitter will stop counting links and photos as part of the 140 character limit for a tweet. At present images, usernames and links to sites are counted in a post.
Just a few months back it was rumored that Twitter would be increasing the character limit for tweets but thankfully it never came to pass. One of the only remaining charms of Twitter is how people express themselves in the least number of characters.
Twitter started with SMS users in mind which was limited to 140 characters but both messaging and the service itself has grown since then. Not counting links and photos in the main tweet count is a neat way to pacify existing users and get more people to join in the conversation.
