TECNO has launched its latest flagship foldable smartphones with advanced AI capabilities in the PHANTOM series, the PHANTOM V Fold2 and PHANTOM V Flip2 in the Global Market.
PHANTOM V Fold2 5G -
The TECNO PHANTOM V Fold2 5G is the brand’s second-generation foldable phone, featuring a book-style design. It sports a 6.42-inch external display and a 7.85-inch internal foldable screen, both supporting 120Hz refresh rates. The foldable display delivers a 2K+ resolution, while the cover screen features a 21:9 aspect ratio.
The device is thinner, measuring 6.1 mm when unfolded and 12 mm when folded, and weighs just 249 grams, despite having a larger battery than its predecessor. The PHANTOM V Fold2 includes a dock bar for a tablet-like experience, offering multitasking and drag-and-drop capabilities in split-screen mode.
The device is also equipped with a 10-gram stylus, the Phantom V Pen, which features an 80mAh battery that lasts up to two hours daily. It comes with three 50MP sensors on the rear (a primary lens, an ultra-wide lens, and a portrait lens with 2x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom), as well as two 32MP front-facing cameras (one on the cover screen and one on the inner display).
It runs on the Dimensity D9000+ SoC, offers 24GB of RAM (12GB physical and 12GB virtual), 512GB of internal storage, and is based on Android 14 with HiOS. TECNO promises 2 OS upgrades and 3 years of security updates. It is powered by a 5,750mAh battery that supports 70W fast charging, reaching 50% charge in less than 20 minutes and full charge in 50 minutes, with additional support for 15W wireless charging.
TECNO’s AI suite, featuring the Ella assistant powered by Google Gemini, supports over 400 functions and AI-driven searches. Additional AI features include Magic AI Eraser, an AI Artboard for converting sketches into digital art, Smart Q&A, AI Summary, AI Translation, AI Writing, an AI Wallpaper generator, and Universal Tone Technology for improved camera performance and more accurate skin tone representation.

The PHANTOM V Flip2 5G comes with a customizable 3.64-inch cover screen that supports over 2,000 apps, allowing users to access key features without unfolding the device. The cover screen offers fun features like interactive pets, mini-games, and a full keyboard. It also features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED inner display with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2160Hz PWM dimming for enhanced eye comfort.
The phone is built with an aerospace-grade steel hinge, designed to withstand 400,000 folds, and offers folding angles between 30 and 150 degrees. It has a triple-camera system that includes a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide lens with a 150-degree field of view, and a 32MP front-facing selfie camera.
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chip, the V Flip2 operates on HiOS, based on Android 14, and comes with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a 4,720mAh battery that supports 70W fast charging, allowing for a full charge in just 43 minutes. It is available in two colours: Travertine Green and Moondust Grey.

The PHANTOM V Fold2 is priced at USD 1,099 (around Rs. 92,210) and it will be available from September 23, 2024, in Africa, with additional launches in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America in late September and October 2024.
The PHANTOM V Flip2 is priced at USD 699 (approximately Rs. 58,650) and will also be available from September 23, 2024, in Africa, followed by releases in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
