Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact announced at IFA in Berlin
It seems Sony has perfected its smartphone formula. The company just announced the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact at IFA in Berlin. Let's have a look at both the smartphones in detail.
Sony Xperia Z3
The Xperia Z3 comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p Triluminous display which is brighter than the Z2's display and has slimmer bezels. The Z3 is just 7.3mm thick but packs the latest hardware and a large 3100 mAh battery.
You get a Snapdragon 801 SoC powering the internals with a 2.5 GHz quad-core processor with Adreno 330 GPU running Android 4.4 KitKat. There's 3 GB RAM and 16 Gb storage onboard which is expandable upto 128 GB. Sony has included its 20.7 MP camera sensor which we saw on the Z2 here as well with their own G Lens and 1/2.3-inch Sony Exmor RS sensor with Bionz Image processing. If that seems all too much, it means that the camera is capable of taking great looking shots. It is able to capture 4K UHD video. There's a 2.2 MP front-facing camera as well with Exmor R Sensor.
The Xperia Z3 won't be Sony smartphone without the customary IP65/68 rating for dust and water resistance. The Z3 will be available in Black, White, Green and Copper colors in Autumn. At present there is no word on pricing.
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
The Xperia Z3 Compact much like its sibling follows the same design language. There's a 4.6-inch HD Triluminous Display on-board powered by Sony's X-reality engine which is an offshoot of Mobile Bravia engine. It is powered by the same Snapdragon 801 chipset as the Xperia Z3 with a quad-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz but with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage which too is expandable upto 128 GB running Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Its 8.6mm thick and weighs 129 grams.
The Z3 Compact shares the same 20.7 MP camera sensor as well, alongwith the 2.2 MP front-facing unit. IP65/68 rating for dist and water resistance graces the Z3 Compact as well. Connectivity options include 4G LTE/3G, WiFi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, GPS with GLONASS support, MHL as well as NFC. Even here Sony managed to cram in a 2600 mAh battery with Stamina mode. Color options remain the same as the Z3, Black, White, Green and Copper.
