Microsoft names Satya Nadella as CEO
Satya Nadella is now the CEO of Microsoft. After months of speculation and even Chrome and Android SVP, Sundar Pichai's name thrown in, Satya Nadella has come out the winner in the race for the new CEO of Microsoft. The 46 year old Microsoft veteran will take over immediately from Steve Ballmer.
Nadella joined Microsoft over 20 years ago. He was born in India in 1969 and studied Electrical Engineering at the Manipal Institute of Technology before moving to the US to study computer science at the University of Wisconsin. He has held many roles inside Microsoft including a stint in the Office division and had a hand in building the Bing Search engine. Before being named as the CEO, he was in-charge of Microsoft's cloud business.
Although Nadella has spent a long time in Microsoft he is neither that well known in the Consumer or Enterprise circles. Therein lays the challenge he faces, as the CEO of a company that is struggling to focus on the Consumer market he has his path cut out for him. Here's the first interview of Satya Nadella as the CEO of Microsoft.
