Samsung's high-end clamshell W2017 with Snapdragon 820, dual 4.2-inch displays goes official
The oft-leaked Samsung W2017 clamshell or flip-phone has just gone official with high-end specs in China. Packing two 4.2-inch (1920x1080 Pixels) Super AMOLED displays, the Samsung W2017 runs on the quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which is expandable with a microSD card slot.
Samsung has also packed a 12MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, PDAF and larger pixel size for better low-light performance. You also get a 5MP front camera for selfies. Keeping up with current flagships, Samsung new clamshell also packs a fingerprint sensor and heart-rate sensor on the back.
It packs a 2300 mAh battery which supports wireless charging all tucked inside the 15.8mm thin metal and glass body of the smartphone. Connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G VoLTE support, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC.
Although clamshell smartphones haven't been around for a long time, they are still quite popular in China and Japan. Samsung is currently launching the W2017 clamshell only in China in black and gold colors, but there is no word on pricing or availability.
