Samsung Gear S3 arrives in the US, will go on pre-order starting November 6
Samsung is bringing its Gear S3 Tizen smartwatch to the US, after it was released in the UK and Canada last month, where they went out of stock pretty quickly. Both the Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier are being launched in the country and will be available starting November 18th.
Both the watches have become slightly larger in size compared to the Gear S2 and now come with a 1.3-inch (360x360 pixels) Circular Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass SR+ protection. The major difference between the Tizen 2.3.2 running smart watches is that the S3 Frontier comes with LTE support and has a more ruggedized look. So with the S3 Frontier you would be able to make or receive phone calls, reply to texts, get notifications even when you leave you phone behind. Both come with GPS and a speaker as well.
Running the smartwatches is a 1GHz dual-core processor with 768MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and you have MST + NFC support for mobile payments. All this works with the effortless rotating bezel interface that Samsung pioneered with the Gear S2 and has refined in the new iteration. On the customization front, you can use any 22mm strap with either of the two watches.
Pre-orders for the Gear S3 classic and frontier start November 6th priced at $349.99 on Amazon, Best Buy, Macy's and Samsung's own website. The LTE variant of the Gear S3 Frontier can be purchased from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.
