Samsung launches Redesigned Galaxy SmartTag2 with Enhanced Battery Life
Samsung Electronics has launched its latest smart device the Galaxy SmartTag2, an enhanced addition to the Galaxy SmartTag series, offering improved methods for keeping track of your belongings while also improving design and usability.
The Galaxy SmartTag2 is designed with simplicity in mind and features a robust metal loop that allows you to attach accessories like clips and keyrings to bags and luggage. It retains both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and UWB capabilities, and it introduces Augmented Reality (AR) Find technology, which enables you to locate items using your Samsung Galaxy smartphone camera within a Bluetooth range of up to 120 meters.
To ensure user privacy, Samsung only grants device location access with user permission and encrypts data using Samsung Knox for added security. Each SmartTag can be tracked by a single device and SmartThings Find account.
It also offers an enhanced Compass View, which is available on UWB-supported Galaxy smartphones, providing guidance on the direction and distance to the SmartTag2. The SmartThings Find app has been updated to include shortcuts for newly registered SmartTags, a full-screen map view, and automatic syncing when switching between phones.
For extended battery life, the SmartTag2 offers a Power Saving Mode, which can last up to 700 days, as well as an improved Normal Mode, which can last up to 500 days. Samsung Galaxy users will benefit from "Unknown tag alerts" to detect unauthorized tracking.
The SmartTag2 seamlessly integrates with the SmartThings Station, acting as a device scanner to assist in tracking personal items and registered devices. It also boasts an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
