Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ (S9 Plus) have surfaced online in press renders. Both smartphones are going to launch on February 25th at the Mobile World Congress 2018, held in Barcelona Spain every year.

The overall design of the front looks very similar to the outgoing Galaxy S8. The infinity display still takes center stage with the Iris scanner and front camera up top. The chin below the display has been made thinner.

Samsung hasn't been able to keep the lid on the Galaxy S9 as tight as it would have liked. Just last week, the retail box of the Galaxy S9+ leaked online showing specifications of the device and revealing key features. The most interesting new feature in the Galaxy S9 is going to be its super-speed dual-pixel 12-megapixel rear camera. It will come with an industry first f/1.5 - f/2.4 variable aperture lens. This means that the lens will be able to switch its aperture based on the lighting conditions and give you the perfect picture every time. f/1.5 is the fastest aperture lens on any smartphone today.

It will allow for more light capture as well, and coupled with OIS, this makes for a brilliant low-light camera. The Galaxy S9+ is going to one-up this setup with dual 12-megapixel cameras. Coming to specs, both phones will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core SoC or the Exynos 9810 SoC based on the region of launch. You can expect 6GB RAM on both devices with 64GB internal storage which would be expandable.

You will also get Android 8.0 Oreo onboard with an updated Samsung Experience skin and Bixby voice assistant. Among other features, the S9 would also have an autofocus 8-megapixel front-facing camera, great for vlogging. Stereo speakers are also going to make it to the smartphone, along with fast wireless charging.

The Galaxy S9 is said to come with a 3000 mAh battery while the larger S9+ with its 6.2-inch display will get a 3500 mAh unit. Connectivity options are aplenty with dual-SIM 4G VoLTE support, dual-band WiFi ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, MST along with support for HiFi audio.

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled for 6 PM CET (10:30 PM IST) in Barcelona on February 25th. We will know about the Galaxy S9 Release date in India and pricing on that day as well. Stay tuned to our coverage for more.
