Samsung Galaxy S25 Series will Feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC Globally; New Report

Samsung is preparing to launch its Galaxy S25 flagship series in January next year, with all models expected to exclusively feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, according to a report from Korean media outlet Hankyung, which aligns with an earlier report by Kuo.

Galaxy S25 Series to Feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Chipset Globally -

The report suggests that the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra will all be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 For Galaxy processor globally, rather than the Exynos 2500. This decision marks a departure from this year’s strategy, where the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ were launched with the Exynos 2400 chip in most regions, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra exclusively featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

Previously, it was speculated that Samsung might use its in-house Exynos 2500 chip for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ in select regions. However, the company has reportedly revised this plan, opting instead for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon across all models.

According to the report, Samsung’s new approach aims to "use only the highest performance components" to address any concerns regarding the performance of its flagship devices.

Performance Expectations -

The report highlighted that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is anticipated to deliver over 30% improvements in AI and GPU performance, which aligns with Samsung’s strategy to compete with Apple’s iPhone 16, which focuses on AI capabilities.

While Samsung has traditionally used Exynos chips in some high-end models to take advantage of better pricing and supply chain reliability, the shift to Snapdragon is intended to more effectively meet these performance demands.

Exynos 2500 in Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 -

The report highlighted that Samsung’s semiconductor division is working to enhance the performance and stability of the Exynos 2500 chip. The Device Solutions (DS) business is guiding its foundry unit to advance 3nm chip fabrication processes to boost competitiveness.

After successfully mass-producing the Exynos W1000 AP using the 3nm process for the Galaxy Watch 7, it is expected that the Exynos 2500 AP will be ready by the first half of next year. The DS division also plans to supply the Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, which are anticipated to launch in August next year.
