Realme Ultra Interchangeable-lens Concept Phone Showcased at MWC 2025 with AI Imaging Technologies

    Realme introduced its first Interchangeable-Lens Concept phone, Realme Ultra a prototype smartphone designed to explore the potential of modular optics in mobile photography at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, as previously promised. The device incorporates a customized 1-inch Sony sensor and a proprietary lens mount system, enabling the attachment of DSLR lenses.

    The concept was showcased with two lenses: a 73mm portrait lens and a 234mm telephoto lens, both designed to enhance optical performance by delivering a shallow depth of field and a claimed lossless 10x zoom.

    Realme describes this prototype as an effort to overcome current mobile imaging limitations, such as sensor size constraints and the quality compromises of digital zoom. The company is actively researching modular optics to improve image quality.

    Although the Interchangeable-Lens Concept remains a prototype with no immediate plans for mass production, it highlights realme’s commitment to advancing mobile photography through innovation.

    Beyond hardware, realme also previewed two AI-driven imaging features: an AI Voice-based Retoucher and AI Video Eraser. AI Voice-based Retoucher allows users to edit photos using voice commands, simplifying the editing process by enabling spoken instructions for tasks such as background removal, sky replacement, and visual effect additions.

    AI Video Eraser provides a quick way to remove unwanted objects or individuals from video footage with a single tap, streamlining video editing. These technologies reflect realme’s ongoing efforts to integrate AI into its imaging software, aiming to enhance user experience and simplify editing workflows.
