Qualcomm Snapdragon XR Day Future with AI Smart Glasses, Lenskart Partnership, On-Device XR Innovations
Qualcomm Technologies recently hosted its ‘Snapdragon for India – XR Day’, a dedicated event aimed at strengthening India's spatial computing ecosystem. The event precedes the upcoming Snapdragon Auto Day, scheduled for July 30, which Qualcomm will co-host with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to highlight next-gen automotive technologies such as ADAS and in-car connectivity.
Showcasing India’s XR Momentum -
The XR Day event brought together India’s top tech experts, developers, media, industry partners, and creators to spotlight Qualcomm’s expanding role in driving innovation in smart glasses and extended reality (XR). Attendees experienced hands-on demos across sectors like entertainment, fitness, education, and content creation, revealing the growing impact of spatial computing in everyday life.
Snapdragon XR Platforms Fuel Global Immersive Tech -
Alex Katouzian, Group GM of Mobile, Compute & XR at Qualcomm, emphasized that Snapdragon XR platforms now power over 100 immersive devices globally, delivering cutting-edge MR, VR, and AR experiences.
Katouzian also highlighted the integral role of AI in XR, which allows devices to “see” and “hear,” resulting in highly personalized and natural user interactions. One highlight was a live demo of a small language model running entirely on AI-enabled smart glasses, underscoring Snapdragon’s adaptability across cloud, edge, and on-device AI.
AI-Powered Smart Eyewear for Indian Users -
Qualcomm also announced new collaborations to advance AI-based smart eyewear in India, including a key partnership with Lenskart, using Snapdragon chipsets to power next-gen glasses. These collaborations demonstrate Qualcomm’s commitment to moving beyond smartphones and driving spatial computing adoption among Indian consumers.
Speaking at the event, Savi Soin, Senior Vice President and President of Qualcomm India, said:
“India is at the forefront of a major transformation in how people experience reality. At Qualcomm Technologies, we envision a future where smart glasses are as essential and commonplace as smartphones, seamlessly supporting everyday tasks. Snapdragon platforms are designed to combine lightweight, stylish form factors with powerful performance, making smart glasses both functional and user-friendly.”
“This marks a pivotal step in bringing spatial computing to Indian consumers and strengthening India’s position in the global immersive tech landscape. In line with the Viksit Bharat vision, this innovation will empower frontline workers, revolutionize education in remote regions, and provide truly inclusive digital access.”
