Qualcomm is preparing to launch its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 flagship SoC in October, and the first benchmark for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) device has been revealed. This chipset utilizes Qualcomm’s in-house Nuvia CPU architecture and features a configuration of 2 x 4.09GHz + 6 x 2.78GHz cores, 12GB of RAM, and comes with Android 15 pre-installed. It will also include an Adreno 830 GPU and is built using TSMC’s 3nm process.
The benchmark scores are impressive, with a Geekbench 6 Single-Core score of 2884 and a Multi-Core score of 8840, surpassing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 QRD device, which scored 2325 for single-core and 7448 for multi-core.
According to Leaker Digital Chat Station, the performance of mass-produced retail units is expected to be even higher, with rumours suggesting single-core scores reaching 3,000 points and multi-core scores exceeding 10,000 points, significantly outperforming the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro are expected to be the first phones to feature this chip, with their release in China anticipated as early as October, following the chip's unveiling at the Snapdragon Summit 2024, which begins on October 21st.
