NVIDIA Shield tablet with quad-core Tegra K1 launched for $299

    NVIDIA has finally launched its Shield tablet for gamers. The Android KitKat running tablet is powered by the new quad-core Tegra K1 chip and comes with a 8-inch full-HD display which supports gaming at full-HD 1080p as well as 4K Ultra-HD. There's 2 GB RAM onboard, NVIDIA's Direct Stylus 2 support for pressure sensitive input, 5 MP front and rear cameras. The WiFi-only Shield tablet has been priced at $299 with 16 GB storage while the WiFi+LTE variant with 32 GB storage comes in at $399.

    The Shield tablet boasts of 10 hour battery life but that still needs to be tested. It comes with front-facing speakers as well. The Shield controller is another accessory you should keep a lookout for if you are planning to buy the tablet. It is available separately for $60 and you can connect upto 4 controllers to a single Shield Tablet. The controller comes with a headset jack and inbuilt mic for chat and voice commands.

    NVIDIA says that there will be more than 400 games optimized for the Shield tablet at launch and more will be available from the Play Store. It will be available in the US and Canada starting July 29th while Europe will get the Shield tablet on August 14.
