Nothing Phone (2a) launched in India starting at Rs.23,999 with 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC
Nothing has just launched its highly anticipated Nothing Phone (2a), marking the company's third smartphone release, as previously promised. Sporting a sizable 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display boasting up to 1300 nits peak brightness, the phone is driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC, accompanied by up to 12GB of RAM and up to 8GB of virtual RAM.
The customized Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC boasts over 10% enhanced display and modem power efficiency compared to the standard Dimensity 7200. Operating on Android 14 with Nothing OS 2.5, the device is guaranteed 3 Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches every 2 months, aligning with the promises made for Phone (1) and (2).
According to the company, the upper portion of Phone (2a) integrates the camera at its focal point, meticulously aligning other elements using a circular grid system. It introduces an industry-first NFC coil positioned behind the camera and features a 90-angle unibody cover wrapping around the edges.
Inspired by Massimo Vignelli’s New York subway map, the back design adopts a plastic cover, departing from the glass backs of the previous models. Notably, the LED locations for the glyph on the back differ, with 26 addressable LED lighting zones—tripling the zones found in Phone (1)—enabling various functionalities such as volume control, timer, Uber and Zomato alerts, and notifications.
Equipped with dual 50MP sensors for the main and ultra-wide cameras, the Glyph Interface can be set to full brightness, illuminating nearby subjects with soft light, alongside a 32MP front camera.
Powering the device is a substantial 5000mAh battery with 45W PD charging support, capable of reaching 50% charge in just 20 minutes and full charge in 59 minutes. However, wireless charging capabilities are notably absent. The company assures that the phone can retain over 90% of its maximum capacity after 1,000 charging cycles, equivalent to over 3 years of daily charging.
