Nokia planning September 26th-27th event, may unveil a Windows tablet
Nokia is planning an event for September 26th and 27th, and with the latest rumors indicating that Nokia is working on a Windows tablet, it might be the showcase the device. Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said in a recent interview that the company's new strategy is to do a major release every quarter, and that a major launch was coming in September.
If we put the pieces together, it seems that Nokia's Windows tablet is inevitable. But the only question that remains is whether it will run Windows Phone 8, somehow scaled to run on a tablet or Windows RT, which will be utterly disastrous for Nokia.
I really feel bad for Nokia, the once mobile giant is now scraping by on a measly marketshare. The company still has some of the best hardware in the business, just look at the recently unveiled Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925, they are at the epitome of innovation, when companies like Samsung,LG and the likes are playing with gimmicks and shoddy marketing.
A Windows RT tablet does not make sense for Microsoft nor Nokia, if anyone's listening at any of these companies just scrap Windows RT and make Windows Phone 8 run on tablets and allow developers to run their existing Windows 8 Apps on the platform and just leave Windows 8 for the desktop alone without the touch interface, just show it if the user has a touchscreen, otherwise just the normal start menu.
I guess, we've already come a long way to go back to the voice of reason.
