Nokia gets injunction against HTC One in Netherlands from being sold
Nokia has been granted an injunction against the HTC One from being sold in the Netherlands over the use of Nokia's proprietary microphone technology in the HTC One.
HTC has already been dealing with issues in shipping the HTC One on time due to its design which is hard to manufacture. Now, it is engaged in a legal battle with Nokia. The issue is that HTC is using a particular microphone in the HTC One, which has been developed by STMicroelectronics and Nokia jointly. This mic has been developed to be used exclusively for Nokia devices and therefore HTC does not have the right to use it the One.
Nokia has therefore been granted an injunction by the Dutch court over the alleged use of the patented technology, which will prevent the HTC One from being shipped to the Netherlands unless they acquire the rights for the tech or stop using it.
At present the injunction is only applicable in the Netherlands, and will not affect shipments in other countries.
