Nokia released its financial report for Q1 2013 and its not as rosy as everyone hoped it would be. The Finnish company has made €5.9 billion in net sales but the parent company Nokia Group still reported a net loss of €150 million.

Although it all seems grim looking at the above stats, the Lumia line is a ray of hope for the company where sales went up by 27 percent QoQ to 5.6 million units. Furthermore, Nokia also saw a slump in sales of its feature phones as total shipments amounted to 55.8 million units which is 30% less than the last quarter, Q4 2012.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop had this to say over the earnings of the company:

"At the highest level, we are pleased that Nokia Group achieved underlying operating profitability for the third quarter in a row. While operating in a highly competitive environment, Nokia is executing our strategy with urgency and managing our costs very well.

We have areas where we are making progress, and areas where we are further increasing the focus."

Region wise, Nokia saw best results in Europe and Asia-Pacific alongwith gaining some ground in North America through its Lumia line. All in all, the company remains hopeful for Q2 2013, which will bring increased availability of Lumia devices and foray into other markets.
