Nokia 6 gets an Android One edition at MWC 2018, runs Oreo out of the box
HMD Global had already announced an upgrade to last year's Nokia 6 in China. Now we have yet another variant of the same phone here at MWC 2018, though its now part of the Android One project. If you don't know, Android One smartphones are similar to Pixel devices as in they get updates directly from Google but are not sold through Google.
Coming to design, the Nokia 6 Android One edition has a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 2.5d curved Gorilla Glass 3 on top. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 mobile platform with Android 8.0 Oreo taking care of everyday tasks.
It has a 16-negapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture lens, ZEISS optics and a wide-angle 8-megepixel front-facing camera. The fingerprint sensor has been moved to the back of the phone to reduce the bezels in the front.
The bothie feature from the Nokia 8 has been ported to the new Nokia 6 as well. With this feature you can capture an image with both the front and rear cameras at the same time. There's Face Unlock coming to the phone as well, sometime in Q2 2018. All this is packed in a 6000 series aluminium body with a 3000 mAh battery which supports fast charging.
The new Nokia 6 comes in black/copper, white/iron and blue/gold color options. It has been priced at 249 Euros (about $300 / Rs. 19800). It will be available starting April 2018.
