Motorola X Phone leaks over the internet, might be the next Android flasgship

    Motorola X Phone

Motorola has been trying to become relevant in the smartphone business after the Droid series paved the way for Android to be the top smartphone OS in the world. But since then Motorola is nowhere on the map of top android smartphone manufacturers in terms of sales. After Google purchased Motorola Mobility, it was thought that Google would ask Motorola to make the next big thing in Android. It was thought that the next Nexus device would come from the stable of Motorola, but it was Samsung then LG. Now it has been announced its going to be LG again for the Nexus 5. So where is Motorola in this list, what was the point of the acquisition ?

Well that answer might lie with this leak, the Motorola X Phone, touted as the next flagship for Android. It might be the pure android device with earth shattering specs to rival the best today but from Google. In the image you can see that the phone is covered in a non disclosure case so that you may not see the final design. There is no word on specs but the phone is supposed to have a 5-inch full HD display. The phone is supposed to have an almost vanilla Android build with 32GB inbuilt storage and 2GB RAM.

    Google's plan with Motorola

Google might also tap Motorola to create a series of X Phones which will range from entry-level to high-end smartphones and still partner with other OEM's to manufacture a new Nexus phone each year. This will give relevance to Motorola, choice to the customer and faith to OEM's who would always be in the loop as to which direction Google is taking Android. All in all this will be a great strategy for both customers and Google alike.

Looking at both Samsung and LG, they rose due to, in some part, their partnership with Google for a Nexus device. If Motorola wants to survive and it should, clearly because they know how to make great phones, then Google will have to make Motorola its priority from now on. Loosing Motorola as a smartphone manufacturer will be a loss to the consumer as well as to Android.
