These are all the Motorola smartphones launching this year (2017)
The last week has been very eventful, especially when it comes to Motorola smartphones. Starting with the E series, then a new Moto C series and upgrade to the Moto Z line-up, there's a lot to talk about.
First, let's talk about the new affordable Moto C and Moto C Plus
This will the cheapest Motorola smartphone launching this year. While the Moto E is already a very affordable smartphone, the Moto C will be for first-time smartphone buyers. Then there's the Moto C Plus which is less than the Moto C, but it is expected to come with a larger 4000 mAh battery, capacitive nav buttons and a rear facing speaker. Both phones will come with 5-inch displays, but the Moto C has a paltry FWVGA resolution while the plus gets an HD upgrade.
The Moto C Plus is expected to run on the MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor and will come with 4G VoLTE support.
Moto E4
The Moto E is getting a redesign, similar to the Moto M. The Moto E4 may feature a metal back-cover and a plus variant is also rumored which will come with a larger battery. With the C series taking care of the affordable segment, Moto E4 may get a slight price bump with the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor and premium design. The speaker too here has now been moved to the back of the phone, while the G5 and G5 Plus and the Moto Z line-up opted for front ported speakers.
Moto Z2
Last years' Moto Z showed the world how modularity could work for smartphones, it was a great idea and the execution went on a similar path. But with not much interest from 3rd party manufacturers, MotoMods did loose their charm after a while. Still a novel idea though.
Now Moto is coming back with the Z2, which seems to keep the same design but gets dual-led flash in the front and a more oval/conventional fingerprint sensor up front compared to the uncomfortable squaring one last time around on the Moto Z. Another change is that the Moto Z2 will come with a dual camera setup for the back of the phone.
Spec-wise we expect to see the Snapdragon 835 on the flagship with 4 or 6 GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage, which is now becoming the norm since the Galaxy S8 launched last month. We hope that Moto does add a bigger battery to the Z2 this time.
Which one of these would you be picking up? Any favorites? Let us know in the comments.
