New Motorola smartphone, XT1662, with rear fingerprint sensor, metal build spotted
It seems Lenovo is working on a new Moto smartphone, dubbed the Moto M or Moto M Plus which features a metal unibody design and rear fingerprint sensor below the camera module.
The Moto M XT1662 has just visited TENNA for certification, which also gives an insight into how the device is going to look like. This would be first Lenovo/Motorola smartphone to come with Moto branding in the front and it seems to have on-screen buttons since there are no hardware capacitive keys.
The back is where the phone gets interesting. You can see the rear camera module which probably also houses the laser autofocus sensor, but below it you can see the fingerprint sensor. The current-gen Moto G4, Moto Z devices have the fingerprint sensor in the front which looks and feels awkward to use. This implementation is way better.
Now much is known about the specs of the Moto M (earlier it was called the Moto X 2016) but it will come with a 5.5-inch display 3000 mAh battery measuring in at just 8mm in thickness according to the listing.
According to the GFXBench listing we saw earlier, this would run on the MediaTek MT6755 SoC with 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, come with a 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera with Android Marshmallow. Although given the difference in display size (4.6-inch by GFXBench), the Moto M may be a different device.
