Micromax Canvas Spark 2 launched with downgraded specs, lower price point of Rs. 3999
Micromax Canvas Spark was an instant hit due to its Rs. 4999 price point, good build, decent cameras and overall for being great value for money. The company is trying to do the same with the Canvas Spark 2, but spec-wise its inferior to the Canvas Spark in almost every way but you will get it at a lower Rs. 3999 price point. There is support for regional languages here as well.

Which brings us to the specs of the new Canvas Spark 2. We have a larger 5-inch display here with a lower FWVGA (480x854 pixels) resolution down from qHD (540x960 Pixels) on the original Canvas Spark. It runs on an unspecified There's just 4GB internal storage which is expandable though and there is no mention of how much RAM the device has. 512MB / 1GB ? There's a fixed focus 5MP rear camera, 2MP front-camera here. There is a LED flash at the back. Micromax is touting the Canvas Spark 2 as the most affordable 3G smartphone in India with a 5-inch display, which might be true. Its just weird to see three or rather four smartphones from Micromax within similar price point. The Canvas Spark is a far better option than this for just Rs. 1000 more, you also have the YU Yunique, Canvas Xpress 2 available within Rs. 1000 of each other.
Its not disruption as much as is cannibalizing and diluting your own brand profile. Nevertheless, you can't blame Micromax for something which even Samsung hasn't learned yet.
