Micromax Canvas Elanza 2 A121 Gaming Review

Micromax has given us two options in the same price point the Canvas Elanza 2 A121 and the Canvas 2 Colours A120, the latter of which has already impressed us in its gaming review. But the Snapdragon 200 innards of the Canvas Elanza 2 alongwith Adreno 302 GPU too might surprise us, even though we got a low NenaMark 2 score of 39.5 FPS. That's possibly due to the HD display on the Elanza 2. Still, there more to see, and here's our Gaming Review of the Canvas Elanza 2 A121 to find out exactly how it performs.

    Gaming Review

The Elanza 2 surely holds a lot of promise given the specs. But as it is nowadays, apps are not movable to the SD card on Canvas Elanza 2 A121. For some reason, Micromax decided that the Internal storage should be mounted as the SD card. So you can move apps to the internal storage but not the External SD card.

Given this restriction we were able to play some high-end games like GT-Racing 2, Shadowgun, Dead Trigger 2, Real Football 2012 as well as Frontline Commando: D-Day, Subway Surfers, Riptide GP2 and Temple Run 2. All games played well in even high settings without any lag. But surely we missed Asphalt 8, MC4 and would have liked to see how they performed.

The display has excellent viewing angles - both horizontal and vertical, the color reproduction tends to be a bit over-saturated due to high contrast levels. But its not that noticeable, just an observation. The speakerphone too is loud enough and clear, we would have liked it to have a bit more thump to it. But its definitely acceptable.

    Conclusion

Gameplay performance is excellent, but the Elanza 2 A121 does run a bit warm as well while playing games but never getting over-heated. Plus the graphics look smooth without any jagged edges and the display performs well with excellent touch response.

Framerates are consistent, without any lag but there's app-data conundrum. Apps are not movable to the External SD card leaving you to install games in the phone storage of 1 GB. A minor annoyance really which can be fixed with an OTA update, well if Micromax is listening.
