MediaTek shows up with MT2601 SoC for Android Wear devices
MediaTek is slowly taking centerstage with its affordable chips for modern day Android smartphones and now we have the new MT2601 SoC, freshly minted for the Android Wear platform. The new SoC features a 1.2 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor with Mali-400 MP GPU supporting upto qHD resolution displays. Its is already under mass production and will be available for future budget Android Wear devices.
MT2601 SoC interfaces with external sensors and supports MT6630 Bluetooth chipset. MediaTek says that the current chip uses 41.5 percent fewer components which results in lower cost and smaller PCB size alongwith longer battery life.
