Lenovo Legion Go gaming handheld launched with Windows 11, 8.8-inch QHD+ 144Hz display, up to Ryzen Z1 Extreme, 16GB RAM
Lenovo has launched its inaugural gaming handheld the Legion Go runs Windows 11 in the Global Market after rumors, and which designed to compete with the ROG Ally. It has an 8.8-inch QHD+ display, this device supports resolutions ranging from 1600p to 800p, and offers both 144Hz and 60Hz refresh rates.
Under the hood, it boasts the AMD Z1 Extreme APU with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM clocked at 7500MHz, and storage options of up to 1TB via NVMe M.2 2242 PCIe Gen 4 SSD. Additionally, it features a UHS-II microSD card slot, allowing users to expand storage capacity to a maximum of 2TB.
Lenovo has incorporated its Coldfront thermal technology into this gaming handheld, complete with a 79-blade fan made of liquid crystal polymer. This advanced cooling system keeps the device running at a temperature of less than 25dB of fan noise in Quiet Mode, while still enabling the device to reach a full 25W of TGP in Custom Mode, as per the company's statement.
The controllers of the Lenovo Legion Go come equipped with Hall effect joysticks, ensuring there is no joystick drift and minimal dead zones, thereby maximizing responsiveness and accuracy. Complementing these joysticks are other input options, including an integrated trackpad, a generously sized D-pad, an angled mouse wheel, and a total of 10 programmable shoulder buttons, triggers, and grip buttons.
Adding a touch of visual flair, the power button on the Lenovo Legion Go features RGB lighting, with the iconic Lenovo Legion 'O' changing colors to indicate the selected fan mode. Customizable RGB rings encircling the joysticks not only enhance aesthetics but also serve as a notification system for controller pairing.
For added versatility in gaming styles, the Legion TrueStrike controllers of the Lenovo Legion Go are detachable. In FPS mode, users can remove the controllers from the Lenovo Legion Go body and use the built-in kickstand to prop it up on a surface. The right detached controller securely attaches to an included controller base via magnets, and its optical eye at the bottom enables more precise aiming and control, similar to using a mouse. This feature proves especially valuable during competitive FPS games.
The Lenovo Legion Go is equipped with a pair of USB Type-C ports, enabling users to dock the device and charge it while simultaneously connecting various accessories. This functionality is made possible by plug-and-play support for DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0. Additionally, it offers Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 support.
The device boasts a 49.2Wh battery with Super Rapid Charge capability, allowing it to recharge up to 70% in just 30 minutes. Furthermore, when gaming while connected to a power source, the Lenovo Legion Go includes a power bypass mode, which serves two important purposes: it safeguards the battery against excess wear and tear and eliminates the usual heat generated during the charging process.
The specially tailored Legion Space for the Lenovo Legion Go is designed to provide users with swift access to all their gaming platforms and stores. It offers the ability to effortlessly view all locally installed games and even purchase new games through the Legion Game Store, in partnership with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which includes a complimentary 3-month membership. Within Legion Space, users can conveniently organize and group all supported game launchers, ensuring a seamless transition into gaming action.
Moreover, the Legion Space empowers users to make rapid, on-the-fly adjustments to settings such as resolution, refresh rate, brightness, and more, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
