HUAWEI Pocket 2 launched with 6.94-inch 120Hz foldable OLED screen, 1.15-inch external screen, 2-way satellite messaging

HUAWEI has launched its latest foldable phone, the HUAWEI Pocket 2 in China, which maintains the design aesthetic of its predecessor. Weighing 199g and measuring 7.35mm thick, it offers a familiar feel. The display now spans a larger 6.94 inches with an impressive resolution of 2690×1136 pixels, incorporating a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate alongside a 1.15-inch external screen.

With an OLED panel, the phone delivers vibrant visuals, boasting a maximum brightness of 2200 nits. Moreover, it implements a 1440Hz high-frequency dimming system and a 300Hz touch sampling rate to enhance visual comfort. The Pocket 2 is equipped with a Xuanwu water drop hinge, which enhances its flatness by 62%, and a double-arm lever gear that boosts support force by 41%. According to the company, this design adaptation increases screen space by 400% and enhances drop resistance by 112%.

The phone maintains its clamshell folding design with a horizontal hinge, while the rear houses dual circular camera modules and a round cover display. Constructed with aerospace-grade materials and 2nd-generation Kulun glass for durability, the hinge boasts water resistance with an IPX8 rating.

It runs on the Kirin 9000S processor with 12GB of RAM, it offers storage capacities ranging from 256GB to 1TB. The phone integrates an ultra-cooling three-dimensional heat dissipation system and operates on HarmonyOS 4. On the cover, the Pocket 2 features four cameras: a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle macro lens, an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 2MP hyperspectral camera with a UV sensor for color accuracy and UV detection. Additionally, there's a 10.7MP front camera.

The external small screen supports an always-on display and customizable UI for various functions, such as notifications and smart payments via QR code. Furthermore, the Pocket 2 supports two-way satellite messaging through Beidou, along with air control and hardware-level privacy protection features.
