Nexus 6P seems to be facing major build issues
The build quality of the Nexus 6P came under the scanner with a bend test which showed the device is not structurally intact and bends with the least amount of pressure. But now its the glass front and back that seems to be cracking of its own accord.
Some users have taken to Reddit reporting that the glass on the back of the Nexus 6P cracks while the phone is just sitting on its back without the need of any intervention. One of the causes can be that while using the phone the metal expands slightly due to the warmth it is exposed to alongwith the heat generated by the device itself. But when it comes in contact with a cold surface as it would in winters, the sudden temperature change makes the metal contract faster, something Huawei didn't foresee.
Well that was a surprise. For me, and the cat. It was sat on a table next to me when I heard the glass snap, leaving a little snowfall of shavings on the table under it. It's now continuing to crack away to itself..
This exerts far more pressure on the precision-cut Gorilla Glass later at the back, result in cracks and that's not all, some users are also reporting that the front glass gets cracked in a similar fashion. Even if you watch the video below, the presence of dovetail joints between metal and plastic causes the glass to crack first, as it just floats above the frame, and is not meant to hold metal together structurally.
Now, we are not trying to alarm you. This is happening to a very small percentage of users who have purchased the device. We will be keeping a close lookout on the story as it develops.
