Huawei announces MediaPad X1, the lightest 7-inch tablet with calling capabilities

    Huawei has just announced the MediaPad X1 at MWC 2014, here in Barcelona. The tablet features a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 pixels display, Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin 910 SoC with 1.6 GHz quad-core Cortex A9 processor with MALI 450 MP4 GPU, 2 GB RAM running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It comes with support for both TD-LTE and FD-LTE making it a LTE tablet which can make calls as well.

    Even though the MediaPad X1 is the lightest 7-inch tablet at just 239 grams and narrowest as well at just 103.9 mm, it still packs a class leading 5000 mAh battery inside beating the likes of the new Nexus 7, Asus Fonepad 7 and the Kindle Fire HDX 7. That's not all the MediaPad X1 also has a 13 MP f/2.4 primary camera accompanied by a 5 MP f/2.2 front-facing camera and 16 GB internal storage which is expandable. Its made entirely out of aluminium.

    It supports a variety of gestures as well including flip to mute, pick up to reduce ringer volume, automatically make or accept calls by bringing phone close to ear, hover gestures to preview albums, videos or calendar events and also voice-controlled camera. At present though there is no word on price, but the Huawei MediaPad X1 will be available first in China followed by Russia, Western Europe, Japan, Latin America and the Middle East.
