HUAWEI FreeClip 2 open-ear earbuds launched with dual 10.8mm drivers, HarmonyOS AI
HUAWEI has launched its latest open-ear earbuds, the HUAWEI FreeClip 2 in China, the successor to the 2023 FreeClip. The earbuds feature a left-right agnostic open-ear design built around three core elements: the Comfort Bean for secure fit, the Listening Ball with a redesigned acoustic structure, and the Cloud-Sensation C-shaped bridge made of soft liquid silicone and memory metal for comfort and durability.
Each earbud weighs just 5.1g and has been ergonomically shaped using data from over 10,000 ear models for a better fit. The charging case adopts a compact square design, reduced by 17% in size and 14% in weight, with a molded textured finish. The earbuds carry an IP57 rating, while the case is rated IP54.
The FreeClip 2 houses dual 10.8mm dynamic drivers (20Hz–20kHz), powered by Huawei’s third-generation AI chip and NPU with 10× processing power. Features include directional sound, spatial audio, adaptive volume, and enhanced voice clarity. Calls are supported by a three-microphone DNN noise reduction system.
Connectivity is handled via Bluetooth 6.0, with support for SBC, AAC, and L2HC (HarmonyOS 3.0+), though it does not support LDAC, LHDC, or AptX. Battery life is rated at up to 9 hours per charge, and 38 hours with the case. A 10-minute quick charge provides up to 3 hours of playback.
Deeply integrated with HarmonyOS, the earbuds bring AI-powered features such as real-time translation (Chinese and 20 other languages), voice assistant, navigation prompts, device control, and anti-loss alerts with proximity search and drop detection within 50 meters.
Users can manage playback, volume, calls, and voice input via touch controls, while advanced settings and customization are available through the Huawei Audio app on both iOS and Android.
